As part of the “Understanding People with Disabilities” event, a workshop “Analyzing Barriers and Finding Solutions” was held at Ignatianum University on September 27, 2024.
👩🦽Uczestnicy had the opportunity to get acquainted with special devices and items (which are used by people with disabilities on a daily basis or which helped the participants of the event to feel like a person with a disability, to learn about their limitations).
💡The meeting contributed to raising public awareness in the academic community of the limitations faced by doctoral students with disabilities.
The workshop was led by:
👥 Dr. Anna Misiorek – for 16 years an employee of the Academy of Physical Education, currently in the Department of Applied Sciences, for 20 years a volunteer of the Catholic Association of People with Disabilities and Their Friends KLIKA. His area of interest includes issues of disability, particularly its impact on daily functioning.
The partner of the workshop was OWIT Krakow – Gorlice, and we were honored with the presence and substantive knowledge of representatives:
🔸Agneska Książek – a graduate of neuroscience and special education. She is particularly interested in neurorehabilitation in the broadest sense. At the Support and Testing Center she organizes promotional meetings, tests assistive technologies and trains in digital accessibility.
🔸Piotr Ćwierz – graduate of Journalism and Social Communication at Jagiellonian University. An employee of OWiT, at the center he deals with the selection of assistive technology to meet the needs of the beneficiary, he also takes care of the technical condition of the equipment.
The event organizing team of the Fully Empowered in Science project is also organizing a wrap-up meeting! Expect to hear news about the conference! 🙌
